It was while observing the bark of a tree that I became aware of the details to be found in nature, all the micro-organisms that make up a much larger whole. So I decided to create ‘Aura’, a project of photographic experimentation inspired by the notion of magic realism and the Kirlian effect.
I’m exploring the question of coloured auras, in an initial series of photographs in which tree bark adopts one or more colours, symbolising a mood, a state of mind, a composition. It also represents the way in which the elements of nature communicate with each other.
A second series of paintings on Plexiglas resembling microscopic sections was superimposed on the first series to produce this work.
The superimposition of previously used micro-elements is intended to change the scale, to suggest that macro-landscapes (the ocean floor, galaxies, etc.) are in the end merely the sum of micro-representations.
